dcarbon8 clients lead the 2008 Sustainability Awards

We are proud to announce that three dcarbon8 clients, ProLogis, Fitzpatrick and Roger Bullivant, won key awards at the 2008 Sustainability Awards on the 18th November at the London Hilton Hotel. The event, which was organized by Building magazine in association with UK Green Building Council, recognizes and rewards outstanding achievement in sustainability. ProLogis, Fitzpatrick and Roger Bullivant were recognized for their efforts to reduce the building industry’s environmental impact.

ProLogis received the prestigious “Sustainable Client or Developer of the Year Award” for its pledge that all new buildings in UK and US will be developed in line with BREEAM and LEED certification and, in particular, for the flagship Planet Positive distribution centre for Sainsbury’s. dcarbon8 played a central role in the carbon management ProLogis’ multi-award winning distribution centre at Pineham, Northampton.

Planet Positive status was achieved by creating a carbon management system to record the carbon footprint of every aspect of the supply chain process. This includes emissions associated with the production of components and raw materials, transport and energy on site. The ProLogis development reduced 15% of the carbon associated with its construction (embodied carbon) in comparison to a standard distribution centre and reduced its operational carbon emissions by 40%.

Roger Bullivant received the “Innovative Technology Award” for its System First foundation. This foundation system delivers dramatic savings in carbon emissions, water consumption and raw materials. dcarbon8 is working alongside Roger Bullivant to measure and reduce the carbon impact of eight of their products.

Fitzpatrick received the “Sustainable Building of the Year (large project) Award” for its new headquarters. dcarbon8 works with Fitzpatrick in monitoring and reducing their operational carbon emissions related to their offices.

Slovenian Environmental Award Win for Trimo

Trimo also deserves special mention for winning the “Slovenian Environmental Award” in the “International Partnership” category. The Awards Ceremony will take place on November 27th 2008 in Slovenia. Trimo are Planet Positive and supplied Trimoterm Panels to ProLogis for the Sainsbury’s Pineham distribution centre.
