The Sustainable Energy Research Team (SERT), based at the University of Bath, was set up to as a research unit that aims to promote sustainability through high quality research and publications. Leading the team is Professor Geoff Hammond, head of the Aerothermodynamics group and director of the International Centre for the Environment (ICE), a multi-disciplinary centre that aims to promote leadership in environmental research and education.

The team is actively involved in broad and highly topical research areas, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), microgeneration, embodied energy and carbon, energy demand reduction in industry, thermodynamic analysis, bioenergy production, environmental footprinting, and environmental economics.

dcarbon8 works with Professor Hammond and Craig Jones, who have developed the Inventory of Carbon and Energy, one of the largest database of emissions factors related to the building industry in the world.
